Hawthorn St., Hartford

About

These four homes are in two newly-constructed duplex buildings on Hawthorn Street in Hartford. Great attention was paid to architectural details from the brickwork to the roof dentils and lighter color brick for roof lintels. Bay windows create a more visually appealing facade while introducing more natural light into each home.

The fence uses materials that add to the streetscape, and defines a private outdoor space for residents while remaining welcoming to passersby. Parking is tucked behind the homes so that the buildings are oriented toward the street. And they are located within walking distance to a CTFastrak station.

Each unit is on a separate parcel i.e., four parcels for four homes; the both buildings spans property lines. Therefore there are separate front stoops and front lawn for each.

The homes were built by the Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance (NINA) – a non-profit community development corporation working in Hartford’s Asylum Hill neighborhood.
