Arlington Road, West Hartford

This 8-unit building was constructed in 2020 on the corner of Arlington Road and Farmington Avenue. It is steps away from a bus stop, with frequent service to downtown Hartford. The building is adjacent to multifamily buildings on Farmington Avenue and single-family houses on Arlington Road.

A number of techniques are deployed to break up the bulk of the building’s facade, including mixing brick, white vertical trim, and siding and staggering setbacks. The arched framing of the doorways creates in inviting feel. Of particular note is the white siding – what otherwise could create a blank facade becomes visually interesting with patterns of white trim on white siding.

Parking is tucked behind and underneath the building, therefore not detracting from the front facade and allowing for an attractive front streetscape.
